Locate ICE Detainee Release

To find someone released from the ICE detention system after a Claiborne County custody event, first determine whether the county released the person into the community or transferred custody. No dedicated ICE detention facility was verified in Claiborne County. An immigration detainer can redirect a jail exit to federal civil custody. The ICE locator may then show the person, but records can lag and some protected cases are excluded. A missing county roster entry alone cannot distinguish an ICE transfer from a true community release.

ICE Transfer Or Release

An ICE detainer can alter what appears to be a county jail release. Claiborne County may end its own custody event and transfer the person to immigration authorities. The person has left the jail but has not entered the community. The county release sheet should identify ICE, an immigration hold, or another receiving agency when that information is in the existing record.

ICE detention is civil immigration custody, not a county criminal sentence. A person may later be released from ICE custody, transferred among detention sites, or remain subject to immigration proceedings. The ICE Online Detainee Locator and Enforcement and Removal Operations are the correct federal channels. The county clerk can explain the local criminal case, but it does not administer the immigration matter.

Search ICE Detainee Status

The ICE Online Detainee Locator provides two official search paths. The first uses the A-number and country of birth. The second uses biographical information. An A-number is the immigration file number, often written with an “A” followed by digits. Use the strongest verified identifier and preserve the spelling shown in official records.

  1. Ask Claiborne County Jail whether the person entered the community or was transferred, and request the destination field.
  2. If ICE is named, search by A-number and country of birth when both are known.
  3. When the A-number is unavailable, use the exact name, country of birth, and other biographical fields accepted by the locator.
  4. Confirm the identity and record the time of the search. A match concerns ICE custody, not the outcome of the local criminal case.
  5. If no match appears, retry reasonable spelling forms and contact the appropriate ERO channel. Do not treat no result as release proof.
Important: ICE data may not appear at once, and some minors or protected matters are excluded from the public locator.

ICE Locator And ERO Contact

ICE's locator is the public starting point after a verified immigration transfer. The result should be read with its source and update time. The locator cannot supply the Claiborne jail release timestamp or local court authority. For those facts, use the sheriff and clerk. For immigration detention placement or locator help, use ICE and the relevant Enforcement and Removal Operations office.

A locator result may not reveal every procedural detail. If the issue concerns release from ICE itself, ask ICE for the public status and the records route tied to that immigration file. If the issue concerns transfer from Claiborne County Jail, ask the sheriff for the local exit record. Separate requests prevent one agency from being asked to certify another agency's event.

No Claiborne ICE Facility

No dedicated ICE detention center or Claiborne County ICE contract was verified in the source sweep. This is a narrow finding. It does not prove that no person has ever been held for a short time on an immigration matter or transferred from the county to ICE. The ICE system belongs in the county release map because a detainer can redirect a local jail exit.

Claiborne County Jail is not described as an ICE jail. The local facility is operated by the sheriff. ICE becomes relevant only when the booking and release record, a detainer, or another reliable record points to immigration custody. Use the Claiborne County released inmate search when the last custodian is not yet clear.

ICE Detainee Search Fields

The A-number route usually gives the most direct query when the number and country of birth are known. Enter digits as the live interface directs. The biographical route depends on exact name and birth information. Hyphens, spaces, multiple surnames, and aliases can affect matching, so use official case records rather than a casual spelling.

A result is tied to ICE's public system and its limits. Record the displayed status or facility and the search date. Do not infer community release from an empty result. Delayed intake data, a spelling mismatch, a recent transfer, or an excluded case can all affect the response. If safety or a court deadline depends on the answer, contact ICE directly and retain the agency response.

Claiborne ICE Transfer Record

Start at the Claiborne County Sheriff when the person was last held locally. Identify the booking. Ask for the booking and release sheet, release or transfer date and time, release reason or authority, destination, receiving agency, and any public detainer indicator. Use the phrase “community release or transfer” so the response does not collapse two different outcomes.

The sheriff's official county page lists 415 Straight Creek Road, Tazewell, TN 37879, 423-626-3385, sheriff@claibornecountytn.gov, and weekday office hours. Ask for the public-record coordinator and current request policy. No official rolling release archive was verified, so the records unit and direct call remain the local route.

Note: A county release timestamp can mark the end of county custody while federal immigration custody begins at nearly the same time.

Claiborne Court And ICE Records

The Claiborne Circuit and Sessions Court Clerk maintains the criminal case record. A bond order, dismissal, judgment, sentence, or satisfaction entry can explain why local criminal custody ended. It cannot decide or document the full civil immigration case. The sheriff still holds the physical jail exit data.

Federal immigration records answer a different question. If the county file names ICE, preserve the transfer details and search the locator. If the locator later shows no custody, seek the relevant ICE record before concluding that the person entered the community. Another facility, reporting delay, removal action, or release condition may require more context than the public screen displays.

A request or hold from another authority that can affect an expected jail exit.
Transfer
A change of custodian without community release.

ICE, BOP, And USMS

Federal agencies serve different roles. ICE administers civil immigration detention. BOP manages sentenced federal prisoners. The U.S. Marshals Service manages many federal pretrial detainees and transports. A person moved to one system may not appear in another system's locator. Agency names on the local transfer sheet are therefore crucial.

The BOP locator is not an ICE search. It can show federal prison release information for post-1982 records. USMS has no broad public name locator comparable to BOP, so the committing federal court or district contact may be needed. When ICE is the named receiver, use ODLS and ERO. Do not work through all three systems without first classifying the custody event.

A later community release from one federal system still does not settle a different case or supervision term. Confirm the exact custodian, record date, and status language. The chain from Claiborne County to the receiving authority should remain visible in the notes kept with the search.

Keep the A-number private except when supplying it through an official search or authorized contact. If the ICE result lists a detention location, use that facility or ERO route next. Do not assume the nearest field office held the person. The public screen may change after a transfer or release, so save the exact result and search date.

Release from ICE custody can have conditions or ongoing proceedings that are not explained by the county criminal file. Ask the federal custodian for public status and record-routing facts. The sheriff can confirm only the Claiborne County event and the destination recorded when local custody ended.

A durable note should include the committed name, county booking number, transfer timestamp, receiving agency, locator search method, search date, and exact federal status. That prevents a county transfer from being retold as community release merely because the name no longer appears in the local jail source.
